Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime faculty-led travel course to Italy! Students will reside in Bologna and visit surrounding cities. The session will be a mix of on-site visits and enriching cultural experiences. For two weeks you will have the opportunity to visit local organizations and companies interacting with working professionals. Overall, this course provides a unique and exciting opportunity to learn more about topics through an interdisciplinary scope. To optimize your travel experience, students attend pre-departure meetings before the trip.

COURSES OFFERED:

IDS 391: Public Relations for Social Change

This course will go in depth on the public relations process and the development of an international public relations campaign. Students will utilize knowledge from a wide variety of academic fields to develop a well-rounded and effective campaign to support the social justice mission of both Spring Hill College and The Italy Center. Students will essentially form a public relations team for a non-profit organization headquartered in Bologna, Italy, and will work together in a variety of roles to establish this campaign.

IDS 391: Understanding Sustainable Development in an International Context

The course explores some of the key issues and themes of sustainable development, as well as pragmatic and practical strategies for promoting a truly sustainable society. The course will examine sustainable development, its role in society, business and to the individual. At the end of this course, students should be able show a critical awareness of the tensions between current economic growth and environmental challenges.
